Catacombs in Paris

Here's me just before entering the catacombs. It says "Stop! Here is the Empire of the Dead."
We had to walk down these long, narrow, low ceilinged halls before entering the "empire of the dead." I walked down the narrow halls with ease.. but Alex is 6 foot something so he was having some difficulties.
Here's Clint grabbing on to Jaewon because he was scared.

There are just endless walls of skulls and bones
They made a heart out of the skulls.... (?) I don't know what to say to that.
Someone was nice enough to lay some shades on this fellah.... Not that he (or she) needs it, it's quite dark in there anyways.

I told Clint to lay down and look relaxed on the bench next to the bones.. and.. he actually did. I was joking.

You'll see a lot of skulls like this with huge holes in them or with bullet holes.
Um... Cheese?

It was an absolutely beautiful day today and I took advantage of it in the morning by going to the Luxembourg Gardens and reading my book for a couple hours. It was getting a little too hot just sitting in the sun so... my friends and I decided to go to the catacombs. Nothing like seeing rows of skulls and bones fashioned into a wall on a beautiful afternoon. ;-) The walls just go on and on and on.... and at the exit of the Catacombs after resurfacing to Earth (by means of going up a LONG spiral stair case.. my legs were so tired after), two security gaurds meet you and check your bags. For what do you ask? Well.... apparently people try to steal the bones and skulls in the Catacombs... and you would be surprised to see the stash that they had caught people attempting to steal! On their little security table behind them there were a few skulls and some other bones laid out. I found this all hilariously disturbing <-- I didn't know that was possible.

What was funny too is that the exit of the Catacombs is just down some random street in Paris. So one minute you're walking down walls of bones and skulls.. then you walk up some stairs and you're back on some street with a Chinese Restaurant to your left. Just.... odd? I don't know how to explain my experience today. eh.
